Adria Airways is Slovenia's national carrier and operates mostly within Europe. Popular destinations are Ljubljana, Skopje and Pristina

Aer Lingus is based out of Dublin Airport and provides cheap fares to the UK as well as serving Europe, the Middle East and the USA

Air Berlin is one of Europe’s top low cost airlines and is the third largest provider of budget travel, it has grown without getting rid of the things that make air travel more bearable - namely food, drinks, newspapers, assigned seating and guaranteed connections

Air France is one of the world’s largest carriers (formed by its merger with KLM in 2006). It provides excellent on-board service including the best in-flight wines and cuisine when travelling anywhere in the world where French is still a spoken language

Air Malta From the UK Air Malta operates a large number of services including flights from Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, London (Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted), Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, East Midlands and Southampton

Atlantic Airways is the national carrier of The Faroe Islands and is based at Vagar Airport. Many of their services are summer only but the list of destinations served during the year include Aberdeen, Shetland Islands, London Stansted and Newcastle

Aurigny is based in the Channel Islands with their main base on the island of Guernsey. Aurigny operates between the three main Channel Islands, the UK and France. The main airports served include Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Dinard (France) with Bristol, Manchester, Southampton and London (Gatwick and Stansted) in the UK

Austrian Airlines is a great choice for business travellers and tourists in Austria, Central and Eastern Europe. Furthermore, Austrian Airlines cover destinations in the Middle East, North America and the Far East

British Airways (BA) serves all five continents and is the UK’s largest airline and the third largest in Europe. London Heathrow Airport is dominated by British Airways and terminal 5 is for their exclusive use

CityJet (owned by Air France) operate out of London City Airport and routes include Belfast City, Dublin, Geneva, Madrid, Nice, Paris Orly and Zurich

Eastern Airways is a UK regional carrier based at Humberside International Airport The airlines destinations include Aberdeen, Inverness, Stornoway and Wick in Scotland; Cardiff in Wales; the Isle of Man and in England - Birmingham, Bristol, Humberside, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Nottingham, Southampton and Durham Tees Valley.

Easyjet are a low cost airline specialising in Europe and currently operate to over 100 European destinations. Unlike its cheaper rival, Ryanair, EasyJet usually fly to major international airports rather than secondary airfields Kilometres from the city centre (I shall never forgive my company sending me to Stockholm on Ryanair - some things get personal - ed)

Finnair is Northern Europes leading airline, flying direct to more than fifty international destinations. Their partnership with oneworld alliance puts over 800 additional destinations in reach.

Flybe is Europe’s leading low-cost regional airline and importantly for UK originating passengers over 80% of their flights are within the UK. Flybe operates more flights from Birmingham, Southampton, Belfast City, Norwich, Exeter, Jersey and Guernsey than any other carrier

Jet2 is an award winning low cost carrier based at Leeds-Bradford airport. They have won several awards including the Most Punctual Airline, Best Shorthaul UK Airline and the Best Scheduled British Airline

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is now a subsidiary of Air France, however the airline continues to keep its KLM branding. They are one of the most consistent performers in terms of punctuality and customer care and are a member of the Star Alliance

LOT Polish Airlines is the largest air carrier in Poland servicing one of the largest and fastest developing European markets. LOT flies worldwide and covers Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Heathrow and Manchester Airports

Lufthansa is the German national Flag carrier based in Cologne, operating to some 200 cities in over 100 countries worldwide. Lufthansa is a founder member of the Star Alliance which sets high common standards of customer service amongst its members

Monarch Originally only a charter carrier, Monarch is now developing a network of leisure scheduled service routes from the UK to popular holiday and city destinations

Norwegian Air Shuttle is a low cost carrier based in the city of Oslo, unlike most low cost operators Norwegian seats are allocated on check-in so there are no on-board fights. The planes are a distinctive red and have drawings of famous Norwegians on their tails

Ryanair is Europe’s largest low cost carrier, you either love em or loath them, our view is they are the lowest of the low cost carriers We include them to ensure our customers have a good choice, however we temper that with do not buy anything from them other than flights and do check how much the transfers are from where they land to get you where you want to be!

SAS Scandinavian Airlines are the national carrier for Denmark and Sweden and have a large network of regional destinations up to and beyond the Artic Circle as well as a significant number of worldwide destinations. It is a founder member of the Star Alliance and also has interests in the Radisson and Rezidor Hotel Groups

Swiss Air are the national Airline of Switzerland their routes include Birmingham, Dublin, London Heathrow, London City and Manchester

TAP Portugal fly from Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Leeds / Bradford and Manchester Airports in the UK to destinations around the globe

Virgin Atlantic is the second largest long haul airline in the UK and the third largest European carrier over the North Atlantic. Their route network has grown rapidly to include destinations in the US, Caribbean, Far East, India, Australia and Africa. Virgin may not be the cheapest, but if you want to enjoy the journey and can afford the extra try Virgin Atlantic

Wideroe is the largest regional carrier serving the Nordic countries, it is owned by SAS Scandinavian airlines. They are not a low cost carrier but they cover parts of Norway where other carriers do not reach and also operate from Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Newcastle in the UK

Wizz Air is a Central European low cost carrier specialising in the Poland, Hungarian and Bulgarian markets, it flies from several UK airports including Bournemouth, Coventry, Doncaster, Durham Teesside, Liverpool and Luton
